Today we continue our visit to websites that honor and inform cyber visitors about the men who have risen from the population to lead our country through bad times and good. Today we visit the home of the 14th President of the United States, Franklin Pierce.
Franklin Pierce was the only president elected from the state of New Hampshire, and served at a time in our county’s past when we were dealing with two major issues that still have an impact on us today – westward expansion and slavery. He served four years, and it was during his term that Commodore Perry opened Japan, and the Gadsden Purchase was completed. At this site you can visit his childhood home, learn about his political career, and see what part of the country he grew up in.
